Democratic Candidate Zohran Mamdani made a stop at a school playground in the Lower East Side to talk with voters Tuesday afternoon.
Mamdani, who represents parts of Astoria in the New York State Assembly, has made canvassing stops at several playgrounds across the city over the last 24 hours trying to drum up last minute support in a race he’s heavily favored in.

“This is a moment that we are at right now is one that more than 100,000 volunteers brought about,” Mamdani told reporters before getting into a black SUV, referencing his grass roots campaign.
“Volunteers that have now, as of the last count, knocked on more than three million doors in the city and they have reshaped politics across the five boroughs,” he said.

“It’s a very strange mix of emotions where in one way you are counting down the hours for polls to close, and in another way, you don’t want this to end because it’s been an incredible journey,” Mamdani said, adding, “the team that we have, the coalition around us, it’s one that inspires the possibility of hope in the city.”
Mamdani is set to appear at what his campaign is calling “a rally” this evening in Brooklyn, after polls close.
Mamdani and his opponents —Republican Curtis Sliwa and independent Andrew Cuomo— are pushing to get more New Yorkers to vote before polls close at 9 p.m.
